Best Japanese in the Midwest Report Abuse
I know several business people that love to fly in to Sioux Falls just to go to Sushi Masa's. I too consider it a treat and would prefer this establishment over any other in town for a special lunch or dinner out. Even if you don't like the sushi, no problem. They have an extensive menu and will also create pretty much anything you can think of within reason. If you want to try sushi, let them know and they will walk you through it and make your first experience one to remember!

Amazing Sushi Report Abuse
Great food, great prices.Really. I've tried Sushi in D.C., Orlando, Boston, and a couple others, and they don't even compare to Sushi Masa. Fanastic place! I try to go there once a week.

If you knew sushi like I know sushi Report Abuse
Great little restaurant. Love the quaint alcoves. The simple decorations while not oppulent does the job. The sushi is expertly prepared and delicious. I enjoy the dining experience to the upmost at Sushi-masa and I will continue eat there on a regular basis which is the best recommendation you can give a restaurant.

Nice Little Sushi Restaurant Report Abuse
Great Sushi. Very unique restaurant in Sioux Falls. A must try even if you don't want the raw fish ask for help and they can show you Sushi with cooked meat.

Slightly different and delicous Report Abuse
From what I understand (and I say it this way because I am not entirely certain), the style of sushi at Sushi-Masa would be considered "Northern Japanese". The most notable piece in that puzzle is that the Miso is made with chunks of Potato. While it was suprising, it WAS good, just different.
The sushi is very tasty and appears to be as fresh as any you could ever get 1500 miles from the nearest ocean. The only downside to Sushi Masa is the actual resturant. It is SMALL. The tables are packed pretty tight and it gets quite hot in a short period of time. The staff are EXCELLENT. Very attentive and quite friendly. The Box Lunch was moderately priced and well worth every penny. If you go with another for dinner, the boat will come with more Sushi than you thought you could eat and since it's so darn delicous...you'll eat it all.

The best Sioux Falls has to offer Report Abuse
They don't really have competition in Sioux Falls, and maybe that's why they rate so high.

I've lived in 4 different states. All of them had restaurants on higher levels than Sushi masa.

The wait staff was very friendly and the food arrived very promptly. The sushi was okay. In their defense, it must be hard to get very fresh fish in South Dakota. The cooked dishes we ordered were not very authentic at all.

One of the dishes, tonkatsu (labeled pork katsu on menu) would have been alot better if they hadn't drenched it in katsu sauce.

The portions were decent sized however.

If you try this restaurant, go for lunch and get a cheaper combination during the weekday. I don't think it would be worth the full price of dinner.

If you're looking for authentic Japanese, I would not recommend this restaurant.
