I've stopped by Billy Frogs a couple times. Each time, as a young man in his 20s I was happy to see more people around my own age than those twice as old. It gave the bar a brighter energy as people came down to enjoy drinks with friends and not just sit at the bar and smoke. The food is pretty typical for any bar and the service is as expected, though the bartenders are very competent at their jobs. Its a newer establishment in the city but should do just fine as more and more people discover it.

I like the location and most of the atmosphere. The only problem is that it is soooooo loud. I have only been in there a few times, but all three times I have had to yell at the person next to me in order for them to hear me. And it was impossible to hear the person across the table from me. I'm all for loud music at a bar, but this is just too much. Something to absorb the sound is desperately needed.

Since a few friends and I live on the west side of SF, we were very happy to see this place open. The most I can say about this place is that the it has good bar food, the kind you see at your hometown bar. I haven't been there for a few weeks, but it seems they never have drink specials. The prices aren't too bad and the service is good. I do have to agree with the first review on the loud music. We had to ask our waiter to turn the music down since we couldn't hear each other talk. Other than that slight problem, the location is good and so is the food.

My wife and I visited Billy Frogs a couple weeks after they opened. I was happy to see they had more then the usual bud or miller lite choices. The music is way too loud in the bar for conversation though. This first visit we recieved horrible service. The waiters and bartenders were very rude and slow. Just last week we visited again to give it another shot and we never got served by our waiter. We were there for nearly an hour and a half and we had to leave our table and go to the bar to order drinks. I told the bartender that we needed a waiter and I stopped a waiter and told him we were not getting any service. Nobody ever came. There were five people at our table. By the time we left we had about 15 empty drink glasses on our table and an overflowing ashtray because nobody ever came to take the emptys.
I can put up with a lot of stuff but poor service is not one of them. I will not be going to Billy Frogs again.

LOUD and mediocre

Everyone's right, this place is LOUD! Now, I like loud music myself, but this was way too loud. The 12 year old waitresses were happily dancing, talking and giggling together while they ignored the customers at the tables, and then one of them turned it up the music so that it was LOUDER! I was at the bar and so the service that I got wasn't quite as bad as the people at the tables got. The dour ex-con looking woman tending bar eventually put my beer in front of me. She grunted something about me wanting food. I said no as I didn't want to stay, drank half the beer and left. I hate it when bar staff act as if the place is theirs and disregard the customers - party time for them and they're getting paid for it, you're paying to be there and getting pissed off.
